马士基信息处理（广东）有限公司（GUAGSC）即将在不久的三个月内倒闭关门，近700名员工将被裁员，或者选择到深圳的马士基，一名员工告诉有我网。2008年10月31日，广州GSC七百多名员工在恒源大厦附近的景星酒店听到了这个消息。这是继年初马士基全球裁员3000人以来最为注目的一次，年初的裁员主要是针对中层管理人员。
据悉，GUAGSC的业务将分摊到世界各地的其他信息处理中心，或者是搬到四川，以降低经营成本。但尚未得到马士基高层的确认。
广州一下子增加了700个失业人士。应届毕业生们，加油吧。

Global Service Centre in Guangzhou closing down
The decision has been taken to close the Global Service Centre (GSC) in Guangzhou. The closure will take place in a phased manner from now until the first half of 2009. The reasons are twofold; firstly, the global GSC organisation has become more efficient in executing the core processes and secondly, Maersk Line and Maersk Logistics’ business volumes have grown more slowly than forecasted in 2008.
That means there is more GSC capacity than the workload can justify, particularly in today’s difficult trading climate.
Søren Brandt, Head of Global Service Centres comments: “ The decision to close is not a reflection of the performance of our colleagues at GSC Guangzhou. Although 700 employees will regrettably become redundant, I hope that by providing professional outplacement services we can assist many of them to find new jobs in other companies, in addition to the opportunities available within the A.P. Moller - Maersk Group.”
More than 100 positions will become available at the GSC site in Shenzhen, and employees from Guangzhou are of course encouraged to apply for those. All colleagues leaving the Guangzhou GSC will be offered a severance package more than compliant with Chinese law.
“The closing of the GSC site in Guangzhou is a business decision based on a thorough evaluation of all key aspects, including cost. I am confident that this is the right decision for the GSCs overall and that it will help us stay competitive. At this point there are no signs that further reductions in the GSCs will become necessary, and we will continue to execute the overall strategy of migrating processes to GSCs,” says Søren Brandt.
Colleagues in the Guangzhou GSC have already been informed and will be supported by the local leadership throughout this process. Top management would like to thank everyone at the Guangzhou site for their service and dedication to the company.
